Black.

tonight, history was made, and i am so happy that i was alive to see it.


tonight, barack obama was elected president of the united states of america. a Black man.

yeah, yeah, i know, i know...his mom was white, whatever. but think about it...the constitution states that, basically, if you have even a drop of beautiful Black blood in your body, you're Black.

so...we are getting ready to inaugurate the first Black president...amazing.

personally, as a Black woman, i really didn't think i would ever see this day. i'm not sure whether i just didn't think it would ever happen or if i just didn't think i would live to see it.

whatever. none of that matters now. i'm 27 years old, and today, i went to the shadow lounge/ava's election party and watched a sexy, intelligent, articulate-as-hell, capable, beautiful Black man become president. words fail me.

the worst, however, is far from over. this is just the beginning.

there are so many issues that i could address...but i'll pick only two. one: security. this man must have the most security of any president in the history of presidents. there is a skinny white trenchcoat mafia-type kid with an assault rifle RIGHT NOW just waiting for the right time to pull a lee harvey oswald. i'm a little nervous about that. well, if we're being honest with each other, i'm VERY nervous about that.

the second thing...this whole communism accusation. i keep hearing that obama is a communist. where is this coming from? i guess i'll have to read up a little more on it. i just can't see that happening. i don't. i can only see good things coming from this huge victory. maybe i'm a little biased, but whatever. fuck it.

i had so much fun tonight. the other half and i went to this little afro-conscious bar called the shadow lounge for the election party, like i said, and we had a blast. there are so many people who i'm going to have to email/search on myspace to retrieve pictures that have been taken of me tonight. i know i'm everywhere. it makes me feel good that i have been frozen in time on so many people's cameras on this amazing evening.

incidentally, i happen to think that obama is the sexiest man breathing.
